Lionel Messi went big again last night as he beats Erling haaland to win another big trophy!!

Lionel Messi, the former Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona star, claimed his third Best FIFA Men's Player award last night(15 January 2024), defeating Manchester striker Erling Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe.

Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland tied in points for the FIFA best trophy awards. However, Messi was declared the overall winner as he received more first-place votes than Haaland. Messi garnered 107 captain votes, including those from all four home nation skippers (Harry Kane, Andy Robertson, Aaron Ramsey, and Jonny Evans), while Haaland received 64 votes from national team captains.

 Lionel Messi won several awards and prizes for his performances in the Argentina national team as well as Club Inter Miami, who are currently playing in Major League Soccer with an overall score of 28 goals and 12 assists over 48 games.

Additionally, his time at Inter Miami saw him achieve success in the Leagues Cup, despite facing challenges due to injuries. Despite these accomplishments, his World Cup 2022 stats were not included. Messi's achievements were noteworthy, as he outshone Erling Haaland, who secured a treble with Manchester City and set impressive records in 2023.

In 2023, Erling Haaland achieved significant success by winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup. He also received the EPL and UCL top scorer awards, the European Golden Boot, and holds the record for the most goals in a single Premier League season. Additionally, he was named Premier League Player of the Season, included in the PFA Team of the Year, and won the PFA Players' Player of the Year. However, despite these accolades, he finished second to Lionel Messi in the recent award ceremony held in London England (15 January 2024)

Last night(15 January 2024), there were notable votes for the men's award. Portuguese manager Roberto Martinez voted for Brozovic as his top choice, followed by Lionel Messi and Bernardo Silva. Meanwhile, English manager Gareth Southgate voted for Erling Haaland, Rodri, and Bernardo Silva. Luka Modric and Fede Valvede, both teammates at Real Madrid, each chose Messi as their first pick, prompting an upset response from Madrid fans on social media.
